Cheaters are a big issue in the online gaming world. No matter how well the game is made, the experience will be ruined due to cheaters. Nowadays, developers give major importance to their anti-cheat engines. Before Delta Force was out, I was impressed with Valorant’s anti-cheat engine. However, TiMi Studios also deserves praise with Delta Force.
Though the anti-cheat engine may not be as strong as on Valorant, the developer is doing something extra. A Reddit user recently posted about an unusual in-game mail they received. Apparently, they were killed by a cheater and the game presented them with a “Abnormal Match Compensation.”
What did they get as compensation?
Well, they got all the gear that was carried in that game. The in-game mail also mentions the date and time of the match as well as guarantees that the Safe Box team will continue to monitor the game environment.
It is quite rare in games to see getting compensated for being eliminated by a cheater. Hence, this is an unusual yet very appreciatable act from the Delta Force team.
How does match compensation work?
According to the official documentation, if someone who killed you is later confirmed as a cheater and receives a 10-year ban, you will receive compensation.
If you are killed by a cheater, you will get your equipment in the equipment slots (gear and weapons) back based on what you brought into the match. Consumable items and miscellaneous items (such as ammo) will not be returned.
Do note that getting compensation may take time since the game reviews it carefully before making a decision. It is also worth noting that this feature is in a phased rollout stage. It is being tested for unspecified modes and will be rolled out to all matches consequently.
This is also an alarming situation
Getting compensated for being killed by a cheater is great. However, why cheaters in the first place? I have been seeing various posts of players being eliminated by cheaters. Even though the developer is quite active in banning them, the fact remains that the anti-cheat engine still needs some advancements.
For an FPS multiplayer game, being immune to cheaters is the biggest goal of any developer. Though, it is not realistically possible, it is vital that a game is not easily hackable. Hence, the developer of the game should work on making the anti-cheat better.
That said, let us know in the comments section if you ever received compensation for being eliminated by a cheater in any other game.
